The Carmichael Water District was initially formed as an Irrigation District. Its first official meeting was held on Feb. 8th, 1916. Now, after serving the community for 100 years, they are officially a centennial company.

The purpose of the Water District’s formation was to supply water to Carmichael Colonies through a 15 cubic foot per second water right from the American River.

The Centennial Celebration was observed on Monday, Feb. 8th, and highlighted the District’s 100 years of dedicated service: historic displays were observed, dinner and beverages were served, and even a fire hydrant art silent auction was held.

The fire hydrant art auction included ten fire hydrants that were designed and painted by students from Del Campo High School. Proceeds from the auction went to support the Del Campo High School Art Program.

The event was held at the La Sierra Community Center on Engle Road. The event was flooded with smiles and accolades.
