Freshman Peyton Spellacy has been admitted to the NewsRoom By The Bay, a summer digital journalism program for high school students, held every summer at Stanford University. The program will be held July 2-9, 2017.

“It is really special because it is a select group,’ said Spellacy. “A lot of them are seniors and juniors. I am excited to learn about their experiences and really use it as an opportunity to grow in my own broadcasting.”

Spellacy, who is from Carmichael, played on the St. Francis varsity tennis team last fall before joining the Sports Media club. She participated on numerous broadcasts during the basketball season, calling all three levels. She was part of the team that streamed and broadcast the CIF NorCal varsity playoff game including the first live pregame show in TroubieTV history.

“TroubieTV has given me the outlet to my passion,” said Spellacy. “It has taught me so much about being on camera. I love it.”

St. Francis Catholic High School has earned recognition as one of 88 schools of distinction from the NFHS Network for the efforts of the Sports Media Club in producing TroubieTV.
