Good communication between repair shop and car owner can help ensure smooth auto repairs.
(NAPSI) - According to the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), customer involvement can help ensure better auto service. Here are tips:
• Keep a record of all repairs and service.
• Pay attention to your vehicle's warning lights, changes in performance and handling, any unusual sounds, drips and leaks, or changes in fluid levels.
• Note when the problem occurs and whether it's constant or intermittent, and if it occurs when the engine is cold or after it's warmed up.
• Be prepared to describe the symptoms and carry a written list.
• Let the technician diagnose and recommend a remedy.
• Don't hesitate to request definitions of technical terms.
• Ask to be apprised of the problem, the recommended fix and approximate cost before authorizing work.
ASE is an independent organization dedicated to improving the quality of automotive service and repair through the voluntary testing and certification of automotive technicians. Visit www.ase.com for information and car care tips. |
