Honorary Mayor for 2016, Julie Woodworker Hubbs reigned over the carnival of lights.
Carmichael, CA (MPG) - Following a wet afternoon, rain-free interludes blessed the annual tree lighting ceremonies in Carmichael Park last week.
With a candy-cane wand, Julie Woodworker Hubbs ignited thousands of fairy lights on a 50-foot Christmas tree. The event was Hubbs’ introduction to civic duties as mayor-elect; her official year of honorary service begins Dec. 15.
Accompanied by a food truck fleet, big band carols, and a magic performance, the carnival was the community’s 12th annual holiday lights festival.
Once enthroned, VIP guest Santa Claus was soon mobbed.
The illuminations may be viewed on the park’s Fair Oaks Boulevard frontage every night until the end of December.
