Women’s Soccer
The FLC women’s soccer team took sole possession of third place in the Big 8 Conference with an immensely important 1-0 win over Delta College on Friday afternoon in Stockton. The Falcons’ defense, anchored by Megan Trent, Mia Evans, and Natalie Fischer, was once again impenetrable as they notched their third shutout in as many games. Neither side was able to record a goal until the 75th minute, when Falcon freshman Keionna Claypoole took a pass from Breanna Brumet, made a move and shot the ball to the far post that broke the tie with her eighth goal of the season. Goalkeeper Aubrey Hall was credited with four saves as she earned her sixth shutout of the season. The Falcons (7-3-3 in the Big 8, 12-3-3 overall) have just three matches remaining in conference play and are off until Friday, when they play at Modesto.

Men’s Soccer
The Falcon men played at American River on Friday night with hopes of avenging a previous close loss to the Beavers, but were defeated 3-1. The Beavers drew first blood, scoring midway through the first half, but the Falcons responded with a goal by sophomore Lee Barclay – his first of the season – just five minutes later that tied the score at 1-1. The Beavers seized control midway through the second half with goals in the 60th and 74th minutes to put the game away.  With four matches remaining, the Falcons are tied with ARC for second in the Big 8 at 3-3 (6-6-4 overall) and will play at Cosumnes River (2-2-2 in Big 8, 7-7-3 overall) Tuesday afternoon.

Women’s Volleyball
The FLC women’s volleyball team (6-5 in Big 8, 15-7 overall) will host Big 8 Conference leader Sierra College (11-0 in Big 8, 17-3 overall) on Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm in Falcon Gymnasium.  The Falcons lost to Sierra in four close sets a month ago at Sierra and hope to reverse the outcome this time.  Come out to cheer on this exciting team!
