Opens At The Fair Oaks Theatre Festival August 9!

FAIR OAKS, CA (MPG) - The Fair Oaks Theatre Festival continues its 2019 season with “Mamma Mia!,” the lush and lively hit musical full of songs by the popular band, ABBA! The show, which remains one of Broadway’s longest running musicals, will play under the stars at the Fair Oaks Theatre Festival’s open-air amphitheatre Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays Aug. 9 through Sept. 8. All shows begin at 8pm.

“Mamma Mia!” utilizes more than twenty of ABBA's greatest hits to tell the hilarious story of bride-to-be Sofie's quest to find her birthfather. Sophie’s tale unfolds on a beautiful Greek island, where she has summoned three men from her mother's past who last visited the island twenty years ago.

The story-telling magic of ABBA’s memorable songs propels this enchanting tale of love, laughter, and friendship, creating an unforgettable show. Songs like “Dancing Queen,” “Honey, Honey,” “SOS,” “Take a Chance on Me,” “Money, Money, Money” and more guarantee a great night that will leave you humming all the way home!

Enjoyed by audiences all over the world, “Mamma Mia!” has been as popular internationally as the wildly successful pop group that provides its music. The Fair Oaks Theatre Festival’s production brings local favorites Brianne Hidden-Wise, Joe Hart, Leah Fraizer, and Jay Evans to the stage, and features Katie Halls and Zach Ekstedt as the soon-to-be bride and groom.

Directed by Beth Duggan with choreography by Natalie Quilici and vocal direction by Jonathan Blum, the show highlights a talented cast of community actors from all corners of the region, from Folsom and El Dorado Hills to Sacramento, Elk Grove and beyond.

All performances of “Mamma Mia!” will be at the Veterans Memorial Amphitheatre, 7991 California Avenue. On Fridays and Saturdays, ticket prices are $18 general, $15 students/seniors/SARTA, and $10 children (12 and under). Every Sunday is “Retro Sunday,” with ticket prices of $12 general and $6 children (12 and under).
