Men's Soccer Musters Two Draws

Sep 19, 2019 12:00AM ● By By Ron Richardson, Folsom Lake College

RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) - The men’s soccer also played at Las Positas on Friday, where they struggled to a 1-1 tie against the Hawks.  The Falcons’ only goal came from Dylan Huft early in the second half after a foul against Adam Ratto.   Then midway through the half, the Hawks answered back with a counter to tie the score at 1-1.  The two teams deadlocked for the remainder of the match with neither able to punch in the winner.  Falcon midfielder Omar Ramirez earned “Man of the Match” for his intensity and effort on both sides of the ball.

On Saturday, the Falcons continued their road trip with an afternoon match at De Anza College in Cupertino.  The Falcons were on fire to open the match, but had the misfortune of hitting the post three times while netting a goal just once – by Abraham Iniguez – and went to halftime with a 1-0 lead.  Confident that more chances would come their way, the Falcons were shocked when the Dons managed two goals early in the second half for a 2-1 lead.  For 25 minutes, the Falcons chased the ball trying for the tying goal, and finally got it in the final seconds of the match when Iniguez crossed to Tanner Boyea, who scored with a high-flying header to make it 2-2.  Immediately after, the ref blew the whistle indicated the end of the match.  The Falcons’ record now stands at 4-0-2; they’ll put that on the line on Tuesday afternoon against Taft College (2-2) at 4:00 pm at Falcon Stadium.
