STOCKTON, CA (MPG) – Rancho Cordova’s newest mixed martial arts gym, Apex Predator MMA on Coloma Road, is already producing impressive talent that is to be feared at local tournaments.
At only 14-years-old, W.E. Mitchell Middle School student Edgar Alberto stands at 6-foot-1 and roughly 230 pounds, intimidating opponents far and wide with the daunting size for his age. On March 12, Alberto put his size to use winning gold at the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Tour All-Star Championships in Stockton.

Alberto’s gold medal is the first for Apex, owned by Rudy Vidaurri who also serves at the gym’s head coach. Alberto has been training with Vidaurri since the gym opened at the beginning of the year.
“(I have) watched him grow from a kid who lacked the instincts to finish to one that dominated the competition in his Apex Predator debut,” Vidaurri wrote in an email to the Rancho Cordova Grapevine-Independent.
