Mesa Verde football team remains unbeaten

CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) – The Mesa Verde High School varsity football team has had a great first month of the 2022-23 school year.

The Mavericks (4-0) broke ground on a new sports complex that includes a state-of-the-art football stadium at the end of August. On the field, Mesa Verde has dominated. The Mavericks have won all their games and allowed only eight total points through four contests.

In fact, all the points allowed were scored in the first game, a 25-8 victory at Foresthill (0-3) on August 27. Mesa Verde then shut out their next three opponents in dominant fashion.

The Mavericks won 42-0 at Florin (0-5) on September 2, 53-0 at San Juan (1-3) on September 12 and 63-0 at home against Western Sierra Collegiate Academy (0-4) of Rocklin on Friday, September 16.

For its final preseason game, Mesa Verde will host Lindhurst (1-4) of Olivehurst on Friday, September 23. The Mavericks will then begin Golden Empire League play with a tough matchup at home against No. 14 Casa Roble (3-1) of Orangevale. Kickoff for both games is scheduled for 7 p.m.
