CARMICHAEL, CA (MPG) - Re-invented as a fall festival, Carmichael Founders Day recently drew 2500 supporters to the community’s central park.
A staple since the 1950s, the September event commemorates the 1909 founding of Carmichael Colony by real estate entrepreneur Daniel Carmichael.
The 114th birthday combined pumpkin hunting, live music and a car show in Carmichael Park. Barnyard critters were on hand for petting; kids cavorted in bounce castles and enjoyed free craft activities. Sutter-Jensen Park volunteers offered plants and politicians planted kisses and handshakes.
Youth performers included Kovars Academy athletes and dancers from KM Dance Arts (Carmichael) and Premier School of Dance (Citrus Heights). Kiwanis Swing Band and SwingMasters Big Band provided dance and listening music.
Festival sponsors included: Mission Oaks and Carmichael Recreation and Park Districts; Carmichael Parks Foundation; the Cappuccino Cruisers Car Club; Kiwanis Club of Carmichael.
