Student Arrested for Armed Robbery at Del Campo High School
Jul 16, 2024 01:45PM ● By Sacramento County Sheriff's Office News ReleaseSACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - At approximately 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, Sacramento County Sheriff North Patrol Deputies responded to Del Campo High School for the report of a student being robbed at gunpoint by another student during summer school. Del Campo High School and nearby Will Rogers Middle School were placed on lockdown, as the suspect’s whereabouts were unknown. Deputies arrived on scene moments later and cleared both campuses, allowing both sites to resume normal operations.
Sheriff’s Robbery Detectives learned that the suspect allegedly approached the victim from behind in the restroom, brandished a handgun, and stole the victim’s necklace. The suspect then fled on foot before Deputies arrived on scene. With the swift assistance of Del Campo High School’s Administration, Detectives quickly identified the suspect as a 15-year-old freshman Del Campo High School student.
Detectives obtained a no-bail arrest warrant for the juvenile suspect, who was taken into custody without incident in the early evening of July 11. He was booked into custody at Sacramento County Youth Detention Facility and is awaiting arraignment.
