SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA (MPG) - The Sacramento County Department of Water Resources (DWR) is pleased to offer grants to support school or community projects that protect or improve local creeks and rivers within the unincorporated areas of Sacramento County.

Eligible recipients will receive up to $2,500 for their project through the Sacramento County 2024-25 Watershed Stewardship and Education Grant.

Schools and student groups, service clubs, youth organizations, homeowner’s associations, community and neighborhood groups, not-for-profit groups and informal groups with innovative ideas can apply. Individuals and for-profit groups are not eligible. To verify if your school is eligible, contact Jeanette Huddleston at 916-874-4711 or email [email protected].

Eligible projects must be located within the Sacramento County Storm Water Utility Boundaries and/or directly affect the residents of these areas.

The Department of Water Resources has awarded grant projects for more than 20 years, including trash clean-up events, nature-friendly landscapes, field trips to learn about Sacramento’s watershed, water quality studies, and the development of outreach materials that educate the community about pollution prevention.

The deadline to apply is Oct. 15 and the grant application process is simple so applicants can submit their project proposals with ease.

For more information about eligibility and requirements or to download the grant application, visit the Sacramento County Department of Water Resources 2024-25 Watershed Grants page at waterresources.saccounty.gov/stormwater/Pages/grants.aspx.
