CARMICHAEL, CA (MPG) - Community Anchor Services brought the spirit of Halloween to life on Friday, Oct. 25, with its inaugural Fall Festival, a heartfelt celebration that included games, activities and an abundance of treats.
The event marked a special occasion for an organization dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities.
As families arrived to a vibrant Halloween-themed atmosphere, they were welcomed with a variety of activities for all ages. Participants enjoyed games such as inflatable bowling and the “Haunted Drop,” where they tossed bean bags into a spooky haunted house. A crafts table allowed attendees to decorate paper pumpkins, while food and treats were available throughout the event. Guests also had the chance to “adopt” a stuffed animal, complete with the opportunity to name and care for their new furry friend.

Children enjoyed the arts and crafts table, where they could decorate paper pumpkins.
“This is a chance for us to come together and celebrate as a family,” said Veronica Labrasca, the organization’s activity director. “These are tough times for some people, and we want to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome.”
Community Anchor Services, operating under the umbrella of the California Department of Developmental Services, plays a crucial role in the lives of individuals with disabilities. The organization advocates for these individuals and assists them in finding homes, furniture and accessing essential services such as food stamps.
Labrasca, who has been a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) since she was 18, spoke passionately about her work.
“I love what I do; it’s not just a job. I advocate for people who can’t do it for themselves. It brings me joy to be able to reach individuals and help them,” she said.
