CARMICHAEL, CA (MPG) - Carmichael’s spring/summer concert season continued last Saturday, with Carmichael Park resonating to funk rock hits from Hipper than Hip.
More than 1,800 fans enjoyed the 13-piece ensemble.
Music continues this weekend with two full days of the Sacramento Valley Symphonic Band Association’s festival. Hundreds of volunteer musicians travel hundreds of miles to participate in the annual event.
Festival lineup, beginning Saturday at 11 a.m., spotlights different ensembles every hour. The opening performance is by Sacramento Youth Band. Star turns include the Salvation Army Band, Sacramento Symphonic Winds and a jazzy dance set by the Fred Morgan Big Band.
Sunday concerts kick off at 11 p.m. and features musicians from Yolo, the Bay Area and Sacramento. Final acts are the Ben Ali Shrine Band at 6 p.m. and Capital City Concert Band at 7 p.m. All performances are free to the public.
The Carmichael Park Spring/summer music season continues the following Saturday with local rock Band Wasted Space.
Downbeat for all remaining concerts is 6 p.m. Performances are scheduled as follows.
Wasted Space will be on June 7.
Fast Times will be on June 14.
Groove Thang will be on June 21.
Todd Morgan and the Emblems will be on June 28.
Concert sponsors include Carmichael Recreation and Park District, Carmichael Chamber of Commerce, Carmichael Improvement District, Food in the Hood 916, Buck Family Automotive, Sacramento Valley Symphonic Band Association, Sacramento County Supervisor Rich Desmond, KZAP Radio, Carmichael Parks Foundation, Carmichael Kiwanis and Arthur Murray Dance Studio.
