Junior Championship Crowns Winners at Haggin Oaks

SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - The State Fair Junior Championship for boys and girls ages 7 to18 was held Aug. 23 at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex.

Players ages 12 to18 competed on the Alister MacKenzie 18-hole course, while the 7 to11 division played nine holes on Arcade Creek.

In the boys’ 14 to18 division, Eduardo Tapper of Menlo Park captured the overall title with a blistering round of 35/29 for a total of 64. Tapper is a senior at Sacred Heart Preparatory in Atherton.

In the girls’ 14 to 18 division, Gabriella Borrego secured the championship after a tie with Alison Chan at 75. Borrego clinched the win with a par on the second playoff hole.

Other division highlights included boys’ 16 to 18 winner Noah Eisen (67).

A card-off determined second and third between Jacob Burnett and Kenneth Yang (69).

The girls’ 16 to18 winner was Amelia Karnbanjong (79) with runner-up Kayla Nguyen (81).

The boys’ 14 to 15 winner was Cru Sullivan (68).

The girls’ 14 to 15 winner was Allison Chan (75).

The boys’ 12 to 13 winner was Daniel Tang (76).

The girls’ 12 to13 winner was Olivia Lee (75).

The boys’ 10 to 11 winner was Luke Souther (36).

The girls’ 10 to 11 winner was Rella Wang (34).

The boys’ 7 to 9 winner was Stanford Gilmore (35).

The girls’ 7 to 9 winner was Livy Woodward (36).

The tournament was hosted by the Sacramento Golf Council under the direction of Council President and Tournament Chairman Mark Perry.
