SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - A classic car show, cheerleader routines and band performances are among nostalgic attractions planned for Mira Loma High School’s 65th anniversary celebrations on Saturday, Sept. 27.

All alumni from 1963 through 2025 are invited. Campus festivities are also open to the public.

Famed for innovative science programs, the school will host tours of its new science wing. Children’s activities are offered. Food trucks will provide refreshments. Musical interludes are planned to spotlight student, teacher and alumni musicians. Visitors are invited to join the school’s rousing fight song, "Mira Loma Alma Mater Hail."

Built in 1960, the San Juan District facility marked a half-century in 2010. Three years later, the first graduating class (1963) staged a 50th reunion. Among prominent graduates are free-climber Alex Honnold, country singer James House, actor Sam L. Jones, military historian Peter Mansoor, Olympic discus winner John Powell and author Shawna Yang Ryan.

The Mira Loma Alumni and Friends Association will host the reunion. Since its formation, the nonprofit has given over $90,000 to teacher and coach grants. A further $23,000 in member donations has boosted senior scholarships.

Sept. 27 celebrations run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The school is located at 4000 Edison Ave., Sacramento.
