CARMICHAEL, CA (MPG) - Senior softball players from throughout Sacramento recently hit home base in Carmichael Park.

The 75-plus Senior Softball League marked final-out for its 2025 season by indulging in the second-greatest American pastime: a sizzling barbecue.

Organizers fielded brats, burgers, brownies and beer for more than 100 players and spouses. A Bingo session followed the feast.

“Everybody loves our annual picnic,” said Senior Softball League member Linda Greene. “We forget the season’s competition and enjoy a friendly get-together.”

The league was founded 17 years ago by Carmichael softballer Larry Campbell. Membership now includes 85 seniors in five teams. Male players must be over 75 years old. Women can join at 50.

Annual membership costs $65.

Teams meet March through September at Carmichael Park. New members are welcome. For more information, email [email protected].
