CARMICHAEL, CA (MPG) - Kick off the holiday season at Carmichael's Holiday Tree Lighting Event at Carmichael Park from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 4.

Join the Carmichael Chamber of Commerce for live music, arts and crafts and holly jolly fun! Santa will be available for visits and photos at no additional cost but there is a suggested donation of one canned good per child.

All canned goods collected are donated to the San Juan Unified School District Food Closet. Stick around to watch the lighting of the tree as a flurry of “snow” falls at Carmichael Park.The tree will be lit at 6 p.m. Dec. 4.

Carmichael Park is at 5750 Grant Ave., Carmichael.

Also taking place at the event will be the Carmichael Chamber of Commerce’s annual gingerbread contest. Entries are due by Dec. 3 and can be submitted in youth, family/team, adult or business categories.

The Carmichael Holiday Tour will run from Dec. 6 to Dec. 20, with winning gingerbread houses being displayed at local businesses.
