CARMICHAEL, CA (MPG) - Two Carmichael Little League teams recently nailed impressive victories.

The league’s San Diego Padres and Toronto Blue Jays brought home trophies from the annual Hergert Classic tournament. Eleven Sacramento teams completed in the event at Arcade Creek’s Little League Field (Starr King School).

Composed of athletes ages 10 to 13, the Carmichael teams trained on La Sierra Community Center diamonds.

Coach Ryan Martinez applauded 18 wins that made his Blue Jays undefeated division winners.  

“They provided teamwork and heart,” said Martinez. “Though one of the youngest rosters in the League, they played like veterans.”

Fellow Carmichael players, the San Diego Padres, claimed eight victories over the two-month series. Manager Matt Sanchez declared this team “the most talented I’ve ever coached." 

In their final game, the boys were pushed to learn new team dynamics.

"Watching each kid adapt was truly rewarding,” said Sanchez.
