CARMICHAEL, CA (MPG) - Carmichael’s supermom, Rosie Buck will captain the Carmichael Chamber of Commerce for a third year.

“The board twisted my arm to lead for one more year,” said Buck. “They didn’t have to beg; I love seeing local business shine and giving my best to the community. I’d love to wrap the organization up in a nice bow to hand to my successor in 2027.”

“When I told my husband I’d serve another year,” she continued. “Jeff just laughed and said, ‘Of course you will, honey.’ He knows me pretty well. My son Archer accepts everything I do. He likes to see mommy happy. He thinks I work at La Sierra Community Center (Carmichael Park District’s Engle Road facility) because I’m there so often.”

Beyond Chamber presidency, Buck will also chair the Carmichael Improvement District in 2026. Her Carmichael Parks Foundation leadership means more gavel-bumping. As owners of Buck Family Automotive, she and her husband provide curriculum feedback and internships for San Juan School District’s advisory board.  In her spare time, mom is a Kiwanis Club and Elks Lodge member.

Noting her community omnipresence, Assemblyman Josh Hoover last year named Buck California Woman of the Year. “It’s the highest honor that’s come my way,” said the recipient. “Although being Grand Marshal for the July 4 parade will be right up there with it.”

The Chamber job takes the bulk of her volunteer time.

“In my first term as its president, I aimed to be thoroughly acquainted with the organization,” said Buck. “In my second year, the Board and I focused on growth. In year three, we’ll work to extend member services and community involvement.”

The 78-year-old Chamber ended 2025 solidly in the black. Success was boosted by its Best of Carmichael gala that dished out trophies to top merchants. The annual mayoral campaign brough in close to $39,000 (mostly given back to nonprofits) and bestowed the coveted sash on businessman Mike Rockenstein.

Additional chamber-sponsored events included Food Truck nights cook-offs, when vendors battled for Best Burger and Taco bragging rights. The Chamber boosted the Harvest/Founders Festival and staged its Person the of Year gala.

“It’s not all business,” noted Buck. “We also had fun. We sponsored park movie nights, and I got to see Willy Wonka a tenth time. I loved seeing families enjoying the park, under the stars.”

Eight-year-old Archer Buck was in the audience.

“He doesn’t often share my duties,” said his mom. “It was wonderful to do something public together. Though I’m super-busy, I carve out time for family adventures. It’s just a matter of being organized and thankfully that’s something I’m good at. The three of us love bike rides along the river; we have getaways to see my family in the Bay Area.”

Petite but mighty, Buck grew up in Santa Cruz and honed management skills in Girl Scouts.

“My mom claims I was running the troop by the time I was nine,” she laughs. After university in Nevada, her flair for photography became a profession. Small-business champions, Rosie and husband Jeff founded their Fair Oaks Boulevard business in 2019. Super-mom runs the shop. Before clocking in every morning, she delivers son Archer to school with a home-packed lunch.

There are barely enough hours in the day. “Fortunately, I’m very organized and I have family support,” said Buck.  “My mom is a great mentor; my father is a real business booster; my mother-in-law babysits. Besides keeping me calm, my husband is a fabulous dad.”

Notes returning President Rosie Buck: “There’s a saying that if you want a chore done, ask a busy woman to do it. I’m a very busy woman. But I understand the vital impact our Chamber has. I’ll always find time to give back to Carmichael.”
