CARMICHAEL, CA (MPG) - Rounding off the romantic month of February, Carmichael singer Susan Skinner and her Hey Day band will offer a love-laden show at Twin Lotus Thai jazz restaurant.
On Feb. 22, “Aspects of Love” will explore the many-splendored art of the love song.
“Opuses of adoration have been penned for centuries,” said Susan Skinner. “But viewpoints differ. There are songs of ecstatic love. There are breast-beaters for abandoned ingenues. A versatile lyricist makes us swoon for promises made or heartlessly broken. A maiden might yearn for her prince to come. A pragmatist can wash a man right out of her hair.
“There’s puppy love, eternal love, second-hand love and love a second-time-around. There’s a song for any hungry, happy hopeful or broken heart.”
Hey Day’s show will serve a repertoire from swing standards to contemporary pop.
“As long as moon rhymes with June, songwriters will churn out amorous ditties,” said Skinner. “We wish our supporters a loving Valentines Day and hope they’ll return for more romance – in all its aspects – the following weekend. You can never have too many love songs.”
The Hey Day show is scheduled for 5 and 7 p.m. performances on Feb. 22. Admission is by voluntary donation to the artists. Twin Lotus Thai restaurant is located at 8345 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento. For reservations, visit www.twinlotusthai.com
