CARMICHAEL, CA (MPG) – A thousand pounds of crustacean and an ocean of cocktail sauce helped the Carmichael Kiwanis Club raise almost $40,000 at a recent crab-feed at La Sierra Center.

One of the group’s biggest money-earners, the event sold out at more than 300 attendees.

Event co-chair Lynn Jacoby-McClellan observed the appetite for crab at an all-time high. “Our volunteers worked hard to achieve smooth service,” she said.

Jesuit and El Camino High School Key Clubs, plus local scout troops and San Juan High School Culinary Academy students labored to ensure no one waited for salad, pasta and Dungeness crab.

“We had no leftovers by the end of the evening,” said Jacoby-McClellan. “Everybody left with a full tummy.”

Kiwanis fundraising supports programs aiding children and families.

Event sponsors included: Tipsy Putt miniature golf; Supervisor Rich Desmond; Carmichael Chamber of Commerce; Beas Academy; Lucid Winery and Teneral Cellars. Learn about the Kiwanis Club at www.kiwanisclubofcarmichael.com.
