The Community Band Festival returns to Carmichael Park next month with scores of volunteers playing in 19 ensembles.
CARMICHAEL, CA (MPG) - The annual Community Band Festival will return to Carmichael Park on June 6 and 7.
For nearly three decades, the tradition has united hundreds of musicians in a brass and woodwind blow-out. June’s first weekend offers non-stop band concerts, convened by the Sacramento Valley Symphonic Band Association.
Roseville, Carmichael, Citrus Heights and Rancho Cordova musicians will horn in. Music will be further swelled by Solano, Yolo, Amador and Bay Area players.
An anchor for the event, the Sacramento Symphonic Winds is scheduled for 11:30 am, June 7. The ensemble has played every festival since the tradition began. The 2026 event is dedicated to its founder, band director Les Lehr, who died in April.
Another highlight is a performance by the Sounds of Freedom military concert band, at 4:30 pm, Sunday.
Festival participants range from teens to nonagenarians. Selections will span genres from classical to pop.
Beginning at 8:30 am, seven bands are on Saturday’s lineup. An evening rock concert takes centerstage as part of the Carmichael Park District concert season. The symphonic festival continues from 8:30 am to 7:30 pm, Sunday. Capitol City Concert Band wraps up 2026 performances.
There is no audience charge; picnickers and dancers are welcome.
Carmichael Park is located at 5750 Grant Ave.
