Hipper than Hip lead singer Jerry Blake excites a record Carmichael Park crowd during the final performance of the 2026 summer concert series.

CARMICHAEL, CA (MPG) - An estimated crowd of 2000 applauded Carmichael summer concert series finale on Saturday, June 27.

The 14-piece rock big band Hipper than Hip provided Chicago, Tower of Power and Motown funk hits. Dancers crowded the Carmichael Park bandshell floor for the two-hour sunset performance.

The concert ended Carmichael Park District’s offering of eight spring-to-summer rock events. The series also included a weekend of symphonic music presented by 19 community bands.

All concerts were free. Attendee donations subsidized the series.
