In Your Home Care last year took Best of Carmichael laurels for senior services. More than 60 business and service categories are included in the 2026 contest.

CARMICHAEL, CA (MPG) - The popularity contest that decides Carmichael’s top businesses has kicked off.

The Best of Carmichael 2026 results will be revealed just days after the nation decides mid-term elections.

Thanks to swing-votes in this tiny pocket of America, new winners emerge every year. Carmichael Chamber of Commerce officials will announce bragging rights during a Nov. 6 gala.

Businesses in 63 categories are in contention. Between now and November, hundreds of local entities seek voter support. Divisions include professional services, non-profits, markets, restaurants and parks.

Some incumbents have worn a trail on the red carpet. Bel Air Market has consistently bagged Best Grocery Store. Katie Pexa’s Farmers agency usually has insurance voters covered. River City Brewery owners have popped corks after victories every year. 

Carmichael’s favorite teacher will again be decided. Nominations are open for kindergarten to university level educators. The winner gets a $400 prize, sponsored by San Juan Unified School District board candidate Roxanne Stellmacher and current board director Zima Creason.

Food categories are the hottest ticket. “We include Best Bartender, Best Date Ambiance, Best Mediterranean Cuisine and Best Tacos,” said Carmichael Chamber of Commerce President Rosie Buck. “With so many restaurants in our area, we love highlighting great kitchens."

Entertainment is another town specialty. Carmichael’s Wasted Space group last year rocked laurels for Best Concert Band. 

Best Veteran-Owned Business is a new category. "Many local companies are run by veterans," explained Rosie Buck. "We love them to have recognition and support." 

In keeping with current trends, a 'Best Social Media Presence' is another 2026 innovation.

The contest is a Carmichael Times and Chamber of Commerce collaboration. To qualify for the ballot, nominees must be located in Carmichael or have Chamber membership. Anyone can vote, from anywhere in the world. Organizers are still accepting candidate nominations.

Victors will celebrate during a Mystery Clue-themed gala on Nov. 6. “We encourage attendees to strut vintage glam,’ says Rosie Buck.  “Once again, the big spotlight is on Carmichael,”

Candidates will be listed at www.bestofcarmichael.com later this month.

Gala tickets are $65 per person for chamber members; $75 for non-members. Momo’s Smokehouse will cater the buffet dinner.
