CARMICHAEL, CA (MPG) - Carmichael Water District (CWD) is working to shape its new strategic plan during three public workshops beginning Sept. 28.

Strategic Plan 2029+ is envisioned as a three-year plan that will guide the district’s priorities through 2029 and beyond. It will define CWD’s mission, vision and core values and establish strategic goals and priority objectives in areas such as water reliability, infrastructure, financial stewardship, workforce development, customer service, environmental stewardship and other priorities identified through the workshops.

“A strategic plan provides a roadmap for the decisions and investments that affect our customers and community,” said CWD Board President Mark Emmerson. “These workshops give the public an opportunity to follow the process, hear the Board’s discussions, and share input as the district considers its priorities for the years ahead.”

The three special Board workshops are scheduled from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Workshop 1 on Monday, Sept. 28 will focus on developing the draft mission, vision and core values. Workshop 2 on Wednesday, Sept. 30 will focus on developing strategic goals. Workshop 3 on Wednesday, Oct. 14 will focus on developing priority objectives.

The workshops will build on research conducted in August by an independent strategic planning firm, including a survey of and interviews with CWD employees and board members. That input identified perspectives on the district’s mission, vision and values; goals and objectives; opportunities and challenges; and desired outcomes. Findings from the research and public workshops will be integrated into the draft strategic plan.

Members of the public are invited to attend the workshops and provide comments. All three workshops will be held at Carmichael Water District Board Room, 7837 Fair Oaks Blvd., Carmichael.

Following the workshops, CWD will integrate the findings and input into a draft strategic plan for Board consideration. The Board expects to consider the plan for approval in November.
