CARMICHAEL, CA (MPG) - Veteran educator Roxanne Stellmacher has officially filed as a candidate for the San Juan Unified School District Board of Education, Trustee Area 3, backed by one of the broadest coalitions of endorsements assembled in the race. 

Stellmacher has earned the support of leaders from education, local government, labor and the community, including California Assemblymember Maggy Krell; Sacramento County Supervisor Rich Desmond; SMUD Board Directors Heidi Sanborn and Gregg Fishman; San Juan Unified School Board Trustees Zima Creason, Pam Costa, and Ben Avey; the San Juan Teachers Association; Teamsters Local 150; Sheet Metal Workers Local 104; UA Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 447; and numerous elected officials, labor organizations, and community organizations from throughout the Sacramento region. 

Current Trustee Zima Creason, who is retiring from the Area 3 seat, said Stellmacher is uniquely prepared to continue serving students and families. 

“Roxanne Stellmacher is exactly the kind of leader our students and families deserve,” said Creason. “As a longtime educator in San Juan Unified, a mom to a recent graduate, and a parent of a current student, she brings a unique and deeply informed perspective to the challenges and opportunities in our district. Roxanne's compassion, integrity and commitment to equity make her an incredible advocate for kids and staff alike. I'm proud to support her candidacy and encourage others to join me in helping her bring her vision for stronger schools to life.”

Stellmacher brings more than 20 years of experience in public education, serving as a classroom teacher, academic intervention specialist, vice principal and principal. During her career in San Juan Unified School District, she served students and families at 12 schools across the district, giving her firsthand experience with the unique strengths and challenges of schools throughout San Juan.

Today, Stellmacher serves as chief of operations and programs for the California EDGE Coalition, where she works alongside education, business, workforce and government leaders to strengthen California's education-to-career pipeline through workforce development, adult education and economic mobility initiatives. 

In addition to her professional experience, Stellmacher has a long record of civic service in the Carmichael community. She served for three years on the Carmichael Community Planning Advisory Council, including as chair, represented education on the Sacramento County Children's Coalition, and is an active member of the Carmichael Chamber of Commerce. 

“As an educator, administrator, community leader and parent, I've experienced San Juan Unified from every perspective,” Stellmacher said. “I've spent my career helping students succeed, supporting educators, and building stronger schools. I'm running because every child deserves a safe, welcoming school, every family deserves to be heard, and every decision should be guided by what's best for students.”

A longtime resident of Trustee Area 3, Stellmacher is also deeply invested in the district as a parent. Her oldest daughter is a recent graduate of Rio Americano High School, and her younger daughter currently attends school in San Juan Unified. 

Stellmacher said the breadth of support behind her campaign reflects a shared belief that experienced, collaborative leadership is essential to meeting the district's future challenges. 

“I'm incredibly honored to have earned the confidence of educators, elected leaders, labor organizations and community advocates who have dedicated their own careers to public service,” Stellmacher said. “Their support, along with the support of parents and community members, reflects a shared commitment to protecting excellent public schools, supporting families and educators, and preparing every student for success in college, careers, and life.”

If elected, Stellmacher said her priorities will include protecting safe, welcoming and inclusive schools where every student feels a sense of belonging; strengthening academic achievement through research-based instruction and proven educational practices; expanding pathways that prepare students for college, careers, apprenticeships and lifelong success and supporting educators while ensuring transparent, student-centered decision-making.
